Mumbai varsity book last eight spot

Mumbai, Jan 12 (PTI) University of Mumbai virtuallybooked their berth in the quarter-finals of the INKInfrastructure Inter-Zonal Inter-University men''s hockeytournament by swamping Tamil Nadu''s Annamalai University 6-1for their second straight victory in the league today.

Captain and prolific scorer Yuvraj Walmiki and NitinKumar struck thrice each for the winners, who led 2-1 at halftime, while Nagasrinu Y pulled one back for the losers.

In two other league ties, M G Kashi University, Varanasirallied to down S R M University, Tamil Nadu 5-2 while GuruNanak Dev University, Amritsar blanked Sambalpur University,Orissa 3-0.

Punjab University were also in top form, outclassingUniversity of Rajasthan 7-2. Ajay Mukul secured a brace apiecewhile Gurdeep, Gurmeet and Davinder completed the tally.

Jamia University, Delhi drew 2-2 with V B S PurvanchalUniversity, UP.
