Mumbai struggling at 151 for six
Chennai, Jan 11 (UNI) Mumbai were struggling at 151 for six against Punjab at close on the opening day of the four-day final of the under-17 cricket tournament for the Vijay Merchant Trophy here today.
Electing to bat first, Mumbai lost wickets at regular intervals and were struggling at 102 for six in 60.2 overs, before the unbroken seventh wicket pair steadied the innings without further damage.
After S Mehboob Sheikh (48, 172 balls, 5x4) held one end up, amid the ruins, Siddarth Sudhir Kinlekar (30 batting, 92 balls, 3x4) and Gaurav Ashok Jathar (15 batting, 90 balls, 2x4) took over the mantle of resurrecting the innings.
The duo played at a snail's pace and consumed nearly 29.4 overs and added 46 runs for the unfinished seventh wicket when the stumps were drawn.
For Punjab, medium pacer Siddarth Kaul claimed three wickets.
