Mukherjee wants to follow in Pawar footsteps
Kolkata, Jul 23 (UNI) If he has the majority mandate. CAB President Prasun Mukherjee could well go BCCI boss Sharad Pawar way.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) President, who is going unopposed in Saturday's AGM, would like to amend the CAB constitution and make the President's post for three years.
''Once the president is elected he should be in office for three years. Then he can execute his plans fully,'' he said.
''But that will require the support of the members and an ammendment in the constituition is necessary,'' he added, well aware that such a move would require a majority in the CAB.
He also assured members on Sunday that he would be neutral when conducting elections during the AGM on July 28. ''Many are saying that there would be discrimination, but I can assure you that I will be neutral,'' Mukherjee said.
Mukherjee had suggested having an observer for the elections, but the working committee put their faith on the city police chief.
''I personally wanted an observer as I felt that it was illogical for me to conduct the elections, while representing a panel at the same time, but the working committee decided against it,'' he added.
Jagmohan Dalmiya loyalist and joint secretary candidate Biswarup Dey brought about further bonhomie announcing an observer was not needed.
''We have faith in Mukherjee and so didn't ask for an observer. We also dont want to spent Rs 10 lakh for appointing an observer,'' Dey said.
