Montgomerie's new caddie is long-term appointment
VERSAILLES, France, June 27 (Reuters) Colin Montgomerie has taken on Ryder Cup team mate Paul Casey's caddie and fellow Briton Craig Connelly as a long-term appointment and not just as a temporary arrangement for this week's French Open.
Last week in Munich Casey showed surprise at rumours that his bagman would go to eight-times European number one Montgomerie permanently, saying that the pair were just on a break.
However, today the appointment was confirmed by Montgomerie's manager Guy Kinnings. The player himself was unavailable for comment.
''The intention is that the appointment should be permanent,'' Kinnings told Reuters. ''Certainly it is intended that it should be long-term.'' Montgomerie and his long-serving caddie Alastair McLean parted company the week before the US Open, where the Scot missed the cut.
