Mizoram alleges 'discrimination- in Junior basketball tournament
Aizawl, May 18 (UNI) Defending champion Mizoram has dropped out from the National Sub-Junior Basketball Championship underway in Punjab for 'unknown reasons'.
''We were the defending champion in the tournament,'' Team manager John said, adding that though the players cleared the medical test, they were barred from playing the match against Punjab on May 7.
Mr John also alleged that the organisers did not allow his team to play though they reached the court at the scheduled time.
''They have not given us any explanation either,'' Mr John said, adding that the Mizoram Basketball Association (MBBA) had sent a written complaint to the organisers alleging discrimination against the north eastern states.
The MBBA had also threatened to boycott all national tournaments till justice was not meted out to them.
