Minister to flag off 'Chalo Hyderabad' car rally
Thiruvananthapuram, July 6 (UNI) Kerala Sports and Youth Affairs Minister M Vijayakumar will flag off 'Chalo Hyderabad' car rally on July 8 to mark the celebrations of ''100 days to go'' for the fourth Military World Games.
Southern Air Command Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Air Marshal Y R Rane would be the Guest of Honour and Pangode Military Station Commander Brigadier PM Hariz would be present at the function to be held at Pangode Military Station parade grounds, official sources said.
A colourful cultural programme and band display would be the other attractions of the function. The rally would cover Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala over a distance of 3,500 km over 18 days, the sources said.
The rally would pass through Kochi, Thrissur, Coimbatore, Salem, Bangalore, and Chittoor and join with the main rally at Kadappa on July 11 and culminate at Hyderabad. Ten teams would participate in the rally, seven from Army and one each from Navy, Air Force and NCC, sources added.
The fourth Military World Games would be held in Hyderabad from October 14 to 21 this year. This is the first time the Games would be held outside Europe. So far, 71 countries have confirmed participation in the Games.
