Milan's Seedorf feels likes a maturing wine
MILAN, May 17 (Reuters) AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf believes he is playing better than ever ahead of the Champions League final with Liverpool next week.
Seedorf is still the only man to have won the Champions League with three different clubs, having lifted the trophy with Ajax, Real Madrid and Milan.
''Some call me red wine,'' the 31-year-old told Reuters. ''It is important every year to try to improve, for myself, because otherwise I don't see why I should be still playing at this level.
''That makes it joyful for me to be part of a system where you are obliged to win.'' Seedorf scored a crucial goal in the semi-final win over Manchester United to set up next Wednesday's showdown with Liverpool in Athens.
The Dutchman has played against English sides several times but unlike many of his compatriots he has never played in England.
Milan team mate Kaka said earlier in the week that Liverpool favour a long ball game, but Seedorf said it was not the English style of play that had stopped him from moving there.
''Destiny is destiny. Sometimes it doesn't come on to your plate,'' he said.
''About 12 years ago I had the possibility to go to Real Madrid, or Manchester United or Arsenal. I made the choice to go to Real Madrid. There is no particular reason why.'' Seedorf is set to stay at Milan for the rest of his career and has no regrets about never making it to England.
''England is great, it is a great atmosphere and a great competition to play in. But you cannot have everything,'' he said.
