Manoj virtually out of first two ODIs
Dhaka, May 8 (UNI) Rookie batting sensation Manoj Tewari is virtually ruled out of the first two ODIs after doctor advised that he be kept under observation for the next four to five days for the shoulder injury he incurred during practice today.
Manoj had a nasty fall when he dived full length to stop a ball while the fielding practice was in progress at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium here this evening.
According to BCCI sources, "Manoj has been taken to the doctor for an MRI scan and he has been advised rest for the next five days.
Any further decision will be taken thereafter." Meanwhile, Manoj told UNI, "I have a lot of pain on my shoulder.
I don't know how bad it is." Asked what the doctor advised, he said, "He didn't tell me anything. He talked to John Gloster." Manoj's over enthusiasm after being selected to the national side got the better of his discretion as he tried to hard on the field and in the process injured himself.
Manoj got into the side after scoring tonnes of runs this domestic season and had a realistic chance of making it to the playing eleven after senior pros like Sourav Ganguly and Sachin tendulkar were rested for the ODI matches.
Even skipper Rahul Dravid called him an 'exciting prospect'.
