Manipur reigns supreme in Wushu, bags three Gold
Guwahati, Feb 10 (UNI) Manipur collected seven medals including three gold in six Wushu events, introduced for the first time in the National Games, here today.
Hosts Asom and Delhi won two and one gold respectively.
In men's Chang Quan event, Dewan of Manipur bagged the first gold. Roshan Singh of Delhi got the silver while Bijen (Nagaland) won the bronze.
Somorjit of Asom bagged the gold in men's Nan Quan event while Hijam of Manipur and MP Meitei of Madhya Pradesh secured silver and bronze medals in the event.
The third event in men's category, Taiji Quan, saw Sadananda from Delhi pocketing the gold followed by Vijendra of Uttar Pradesh bagging the silver and Leimapokpam from Manipur taking the bronze.
Manipur also dominated the women events in the three categories as it bagged both the gold and silver in women's Nan Quan and Taiji Quan events.
Waribam and Sanglakpam bagged the gold and silver respectively in Nan Quan while Sushila of Gujarat won the bronze in the event.
In the Taiji Quan, N Premita and Chingtham of Manipur secured the first two positions while Rita of Uttar Pradesh got the bronze.
Asom got its second gold in the event through Toshibala in the Chang Quan event. Thoibi of Gujarat and Anjali Kostha from Madhya Pradesh won the silver and bronze respectively.
