Maharashtra continues winning spree, clinches 6 gold today

Panaji, Jan 9 (UNI) Maharashtra continued its winning spree clinching six gold medals today in the 52nd National Aquatic championship in progress in Goa.

While their arch rivals Karnataka bagged five gold, three relay, one each in swimming and Diving. Tamil Nadu, Bengal and Goa won gold medals each in swimming, relay and diving, respectively.

Maharashtra's gold medals were won by - Kshitija Vinchurkar, Arti Ghoparde - both swiiming under 14 and 17 Girls, respectively, 4 x100 Free style relay girls under 14 and 4 x100 free style under 17, and in Diving Pruthviras Bavi (boys) under 14 High board and Swati Venkatesh Vidar girls under 14.

Karnataka's gold medalists were: Poorna Chandra in 200 m, free style boys, under 17 (swimming), Shivraj Mohite in three m spring board, under 19 boys (diving), 4x100 free style relay boys, under 17, 4x100 m free style boys under 19 and 4x100 m free style relay girls under 19.

Goa's Susmta Vasta claimed gold in the three mts spring board girls, under 19. Tamilandu's K Nandakumar in 200 m free style boys, under 14 and Bengal claimed the gold in 4 x100 m free style relay, under 14 boys.
