LIC Sports meet: Shirdhar creates new record

Bhopal, Jan 11 (UNI) K S Shridhar of South Zone bettered his previous record by 15 seconds in 110 metre hurdles race on the fourth day of the LIC Sports Festival 2006-07 being played at T T Nagar Stadium here today.

Shridhar covered the 110 metres distance in a record time of 14.55 seconds eclipsing his earlier record of 15.10 seconds. West Zone's B M Meranda and South Zone's P sainthan came second and third respectively.

In the 200 metre race for men, K H Jaichandran of South Zone secured first place leaving behind North Central Zone's Abhishek Pandey to the second place while M Hashmi of Central Zone came third.

In the women's category, South Central's Vasanthi Vijur notched first place followed by North Zone's Renu Sharma and Vinita Tripathi.

In the 4 X 100 metre relay race for men, South Zone bagged first place, while Central Zone and South Central Zone came second and third respectively.

In the 1500 metre race for men, K P S Priyamesh of South Zone won the top place, while the next two spots were claimed by Harish Tiwari of North Central Zone and Bhupendra Singh of Central Zone.

In the women's category, Madhuri Gurnile of West Zone clinched the first place, while South Zone's S R Sridevi bagged the second place.
