Lalu wishes luck to boxer Akhil Kumar

New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad congratulated boxer Akhil Kumar of Railways who entered the quarter finals of the Olympic Boxing competition after defeating World Champion Sergey Vodopyanov in the second round of the 54kg (Bantam) category event in Beijing today.

In a nail-biting contest, Akhil and his Russian rival, with scores of 1-2, 3-4, 3-2, 2-1, were locked at 9-9 after four rounds but the judges finally declared the Indian as winner.

In the quarter finals, Akhil will now take on Veaceslav Gojan of Moldova who defeated Yu Gu of China in his pre-quarter final match.

Wishing Akhil all the luck in the Olympics, the Railway Minister hoped that the boxer will return home with a medal.
