Lahore Schools XI beats DAVSSS-8 in Indo-Pak Brotherhood Cup

Chandigarh, July 11 (UNI) Lahore Schools XI scored their first win as they defeated DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8 by 67 runs in the Indo-Pak Brotherhood Cup being played at the DAV Senior Secondary School ground in Sector 8 here today.

The Lahore Schools XI team won the toss and elected to bat first.

The team suffered an early blow as opener Shahrukh was dissmissed after contributing three runs to the side's total of 15 and captain Mohd Arshad departed with the addition of one run to the total.

Lahore team's opener Zeeshan (36, 5x4s) and Mudassar (31, 2x4s, 1x6) carried the total to 65 with a 49-run partnership for the third wicket. Vikrant, who was the most successive DAVSSS-8 bowler having taken six for 23, broke this partnership when he bowled Zeeshan.

Later, Kamran (22) and Rohail (16) made some useful contributions before Lahore Schools XI were dismissed for 138.

The DAVSSS-8 batsmen displayed inept batting today and were skittled out for 71 runs, includig 17 extras. Only Mohinder (17) and Deepak (16) could reach the double figure mark. Arshad (4 for 23) and Sikander (2 for 18) destroyed the DAVSSS innings.
