Kuznetsova rallies to reach U S Open final

NEW YORK, Sep 7 (Reuters) Former champion Svetlana Kuznetsova recovered from a poor start to beat fellow Russian Anna Chakvetadze 3-6 6-1 6-1 today and reach the U S Open final.

The fourth seed was all over the place in the first set but regained her poise to win through to a clash with Belgian top seed Justine Henin or American Venus Williams.

Chakvetadze, 20, was appearing in her first grand slam semi-final but it was Kuznetsova who seemed nervous, making 21 unforced errors to hand the sixth seed the opening set.

But the 2004 champion cut down her errors and after cruising through the second set, recovered from the loss of her serve in the opening game of the third set to ease to her third grand slam final.
