Kuminga Shines In Hawks Debut As He Scores 27 To Beat Wizards
Jonathan Kuminga delivered an immediate lift for the Atlanta Hawks, scoring 27 points with seven rebounds and four assists in a 119-98 victory over the Washington Wizards on his Atlanta debut, following the recent trade agreement.
Kuminga downplayed any outside discussion around the move, stressing enjoyment and team focus during the first appearance. "It was great," said Kuminga of his debut. "I was excited to be out there with the guys." Asked about any message to Golden State, Kuminga said: "Everybody has an opinion. I really don't play attention to what anyone else is saying. We're trying to win as many games as we can here. That's my main focus."

Atlanta coach Quin Snyder highlighted Kuminga's calm approach within the system and praised the chemistry shown. "He connected with his teammates and let the game come to him," Snyder said. The Hawks moved to 29-31 with this second consecutive win and now prepare to meet the Wizards again on Thursday in another matchup.
The Hawks recently secured Kuminga in a multi-player deal that also brought Buddy Hield to Atlanta. In the same transaction, Kristaps Porzingis moved to the Golden State Warriors, reshaping rotations for both franchises as the season enters a key stretch.
This opening display suggests Kuminga could take a major role in Atlanta's plans across both ends of the floor. The strong debut, the backing from Snyder and the swift fit with teammates give the Hawks encouragement as the group targets improved results over the remaining schedule.
