Konkan Marathon to be held on April 27

Kolhapur, Mar 18 (UNI) A Konkan Marathon race, having a cash prize of Rs five lakh, will be conducted at Malvan in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra on April 27.

Sindhudurg district Amateur Athletic Association is organising the Marathon with the help and guidance of the Maharashtra Amateur Athletic Association (MAAA), in which about 5,000 players will participate, MAAA general secretary Pralhad Sawant here said in a release.

The Marathon is being organised in Konkan region for the first time.

For the last five yearS Sindhudurg festival is being arranged for the people and for the first time Marathon competition has been included in it after an initiative of State Revenue minister Narayan Rane, Mr Sawant added.

International and national marathon runners like Satyabhama, Madhuri Gurnule, Kavita Rout, Jagnnath Lakade, Dattatraya Jaibhai, K C Ramu, Shivdansingh, Binee and Nathuram among others will participate in the competition, he added.
