Kolkata Sports Journalists' Life Time Award for Gavaskar

Kolkata, Feb 21 (UNI) Kolkata Sports Journalists' Club has conferred Lifetime Achievemnet award to cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar and best footballer of the decade to India's soccer captain Baichung Bhutia for their contribution to the sports in the country.

The other recipients for TVS-CSJC Golden Jubilee-annual awards went to Jose Rameirez Barreto (best foreign soccer player of the decade), Deep Dasgupta (for two consecutive Ranji finals as Bengal captain), Soma Biswas (most decorated contemporary athlete), Ranadeb Bose (highest wicket taker in Ranji trophy) and actor Mithun Chakraborty for promoting the casue of Bengal football, a release issued by the CSJC today said.

The awards will be given at a function here tomorrow.

In the category of regular awards receipients are as follow: Sandip Nandy (best footballer), Manoj Tiwary (best cricketer), Subhojit Saha (tennis-male), Mouma Das (tennis-female), Rashmi Sharma (swimmer), Harishankar Roy (athlete-men), and Pinky Pramanik (athlete in women).

The other awardees are Rupesh Roy (tennis), Neelotpal Das (chess -men), Mary Ann Gomes (chess-women), Dola Banerjee (archer), Saina Nehwal as best junior sportsperson of the country and Jaspal Rana as best senior sportsperson of the year in the country.

UNI
