Khare Memorial International (FIDE) rating chess from Aug 2

Pune, July 27 (UNI) The Ashok Khare Memorial International (FIDE) rating chess tournament will be hosted by the Pune District Chess Association (PDCA) at the Gupte Mangal Karyalay here from August 2.

The tournament, started in 1997 in the memory of late Mr Khare who besides being a former State champion was also the secretary of the Maharashtra Chess Association (MCA) and had made elaborate contribution for the promotion of the game in Pune district. The tournament will be played on the nine round Swiss League format according to PDCA honorary secretary Joseph D' Souza.

Mr D'Souza, in a release said here today, the meet is open to players from the Pune district only. FIDE-rated players from Pune district along with six unrated qualifiers from the meet pre-rating B Chess tournament organised by the PDCA in April last are only eligible to participate in the above tournament.
