Kerala to undertake Rs 1,000 Cr projects for National Games

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 5 (UNI) The Kerala government today decided to undertake infrastructure development projects costing Rs 1,000 crore for hosting the 2010 National Games.

Briefing the media after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said a ''National Games Secretariat'' would be constituted to coordinate all activities connected with conduct of the National Games.

He said a Memorandum of Understanding would be signed with the Indian Olympics Association for conduct of the Games.

Kerala had hosted the National Games in 1987.

The Cabinet also decided to launch a ''total physical fitness programme'' in all the schools in the state on November 14 and to observe the day as ''total physical fitness day.'' UNI CGV RKM NS1540
