Kerala prodigy wins International Youth Chess Championship

New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) Fourteen-year-old, Gauri Shankar, won the International Youth Chess Championship at the Biel Chess Festival conducted in Biel, Switzerland.

The Kerala lad accumulated eight out of possible nine points to walk with the glory which ended yesterday.

A chess prodigy, Gauri is incidently the only player to win a hat-trick in British junior championship history and also the only Indian to win Indian, British and United States junior level chess championship (Under-7, 11, 15) conducted by Indian, British and US chess federation, according to informatiom recieved here.
