Karnataka sets the pool ablaze with 10 golds with 4 new meet records

Panaji, Jan 10 (UNI) Karnataka today hogged the limelight by winning of 10 golds and setting four new meet records out of 21 events on the third day of the 52nd National Aquatic School Games Championship being held at Swimming Complex at Campal in Goa.

Karnataka's ten gold include nine in swimming and one in diving.

While Maharstra had to be content with only five gold - three in swimming and two in diving.

Gujarat had two golds, both in swimming.

Goa, Bengal, Kendriya Vidyalay and Manipur had one gold each.

Five meet records were set today - four by Karnataka and one by Maharashtra.

Karnataka's Kartik G set meet record in 200 mts butterfly boys under-19 with new timing of 02:14:62, Pooja R Alva did the same in 200 mts butterfly girls under-19 with a new timing of 02:26:06, Rohirth Haval in 1500 mts free style boys under 19 with a new timing of 16:44:10 and Tejasvini V in 200 mts individual medley girls under- 19 with a new timing of 02:33:46 set the meet records and clinched gold.

Other gold medallists are Aaron Dsouza, and Sushaka Prathap both in 200 mts butterfly under-17 boys and girls with a timing of 02:08:19 and 02:36:07 respectively, Karishma Mohite in 1 mt spring board diving girls under-17 with 275.65 points. Sidhnat Dessmukh 200 mts individual medley boys under-17 with a timing of 02:25:40, Arjun J P 200 mts individual boys under-19 with timing of 02:23:32, and S R Koushik 200 mts breast stroke boys under-17 with a timing of 02:40:21.

Maharastra had five golds - three in swimming and two in diving.

Surbhi Timbre set a new meet record in the 200 mts indivudal medley girls under-17 with a timing of 02;38;75.

Other gold medallists are Poorva Shetye on 200 mts breast stroke girls under-17 with a timing of 02;58:32, Swami Vekatesh Vidiap in the 3 mts spring broad girls under 14 with 236.30 points, Mihir Savla in 1 mt sring board boys under-17 with 313.70 points.

Gujarat's gold medalists Vandita Dharial in 200 mts butter fly girls under-14 with a timing of 02;40:44, Ravi Kumar in 200 mts individual medley boys under-14 with a timing of 02:32:28.

Goa's Talasha Prabhu won gold in 50 mts back stroke girls under- 14 with a timing of 00:34:66. Bengal's Gopinath Kayal in the 50 mts back stroke boys under 14 with a timing of 00:31;46.

Manipur's Th Shyamson Meitei 3 mts spring board boys under-14 with 278.40 points and Dhritiman Roy of Kendraya Vidyalay clinched gold in the 200 mts butterfly boys under-14 with a timing of 02:37;71.
