Karnataka, Kerala enters semi final

Vijayawada, Jan 18 (UNI) Defending champions Karnataka entered semi-finals in boys section in the 33rd Reliance Junior National Volleyball Championship being played here.

In a see-saw quarter-final match in the knock-out phase, Karnataka trounced Haryana 3-2, in a 90 minutes match.

After winning the first set 27-25, Karnataka lost the next two to Haryana 21-25, 19-25.

However, the Karnataka boys rallied hard by not losing the grip over the match and won the next two sets 25-19, 15-08.

In the girls section Kerala entered semis. Kerala crushed hosts Andhra Pradesh in straight sets 25-21, 25-16, 25-20.

In the other quarter-final match in the boys section, Tamil Nadu entered the last four by pipping Goa 25-12, 25-18, 25-15.

In the girls section quarter-final matches, Chandigarh outplayed Maharashtra 25-09, 25-11, 27-25 while West Bengal outwitted Uttar Pradesh 25-18, 25-16, 25-11 and entered the semi-finals.
