Kapur on a high, Chowrasia floats and Ghei takes a dive
Jakarta, Feb 17 (UNI) All the Indians in the fray in the Indonesia Open here began with birdies on the first hole but only Shiv Kapur went on to card a creditable three-under 69 to finish the suspended third round on tied fifth while compatriot Gaurav Ghei reeled off bogeys after bogeys to nosedive to tied 50 from third spot.
The only other Indian to make the cut, SSP Chowrasia ended on an even-par 72, sinking in four birdies including successive birdies on the 13th and 14th holes but dropped as many shots which prevented him from mounting a serious challenge.
However, Gaurav Ghei was a big let down as he blew away his chance of a top-five finish by going on a bogey-hunting spree at the 1.05 million event. In fact, he completed only 15 holes when play was suspended due to a storm warning.
By then, Gaurav had already dropped six bogeys against a lone birdie for a poor three-over performance.
Kapur, however, kept the Indian flag flying with a total tally of four-under 209. He clawed back to tied fifth from tied 17th after firing half a dozen birdies against three bogeys today.
Meanwhile, Amandeep Johl and Rahil Gangjee dropped out of contention with both missing the cut.
Philippine Frank Minoza topped the leaderboard with a hole to go followed by Korea's Suk Jong-yul (15 holes) and Australian Andrew Tampion (14 holes).
