Kapur, Jyoti in top-10 at BMW Championship

Surrey, England, May 25 (UNI) Talented Shiv Kapur overcame his strained back to card a brilliant five-under 67 that landed him in tied third spot after the opening round of BMW PGA Championship of Europe.

Kapur enjoyed a flawless back nine, reeling of a hattrick of birdies on the last three holes, apart from five more birdies against a lone bogey and a double-bogey at the Wenworth Club.

Kapur, who finished way down the order last week in Irish Open looked in top form to lift his maiden European Tour title.

Just a stroke behind was compatriot Jyoti Randhawa, who looked in sizzling form as he shared the seventh spot with world number five Ernie Els, both carding identical four-under 68s.

Jyoti sizzled in the front nine, firing in four birdies, including three consecutive ones from the sixth hole. On the back nine, he fired two more birdies but spoilt the show a bit by dropping two bogeys.

The highest ranked Indian golfer, Jeev Milkha Singh, however, was woefully out of sorts as he ran in three bogeys and a double-bogey for a five-over 77, to languish way down at tied 82nd spot.

The Britain duo of Paul Broadhurst and Justin Rose were two strokes clear of the chasing pack, having fired identaical six-under 66s.
