Kapil, UT Officials discuss facilities at Stadium-16

Chandigarh, July 11 (UNI) Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev today discussed with the UT officials the upgradation of the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium here for hosting the one-day international match between India and Australia on October 8.

The officials briefed Kapil about the steps taken by the administration in the recent past to upgrade cricketing facilities at the stadium.

Kapil appreciated the initiatives taken by the administration for the upgradation of the Stadium and suggested that flood lights and corporate boxes should be added to the stadium.

In the meeting, Kapil also informed the UT officials about the Indian Cricket League (ICL) mooted by the Essel World Group.

However, the officials informed him that the administration was in touch with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for upgradation of the stadium.

Meanwhile, an official spokesman said ''the administration will not do anything that will jeopardize the future of cricket in Chandigarh and will continue to correspond with BCCI for cricketing matters in future also.'' He also said that so far no proposal from ICL had been received for hosting of cricket matches at the Sector 16 Stadium.
