Jyoti Randhawa wins DLF Masters, Shiv Kapur finishes second

Gurgaon, May 13 (UNI) Peerless Jyoti Randhawa notched up his third victory on the PGTI tour when carded a two-under 70 on the final day today to lift the Rs 65 lakh DLF Masters golf tournament with a whopping 10-stroke margin.

But for the day one, Randhawa not only held the lead consistently but kept on expanding the buffer on the field. He took his four-day aggregate to 15-under 273, to take home the winner's cheque of Rs 10,53,000. Shiv Kapur, who came into reckoning after a brilliant six-under 66 yesterday, failed to mount any serious challenge with a 74 in the final round and ended up a distant second with five-under 283.

Veteran professional Vijay Kumar carded a one-under 71 to finish in third place at four-under 284.

Mukesh Kumar and Gaurav Diwan finished fourth at three-under 285, while SSP Chowrasia and Gaurav Ghei were in sixth place at the completion of 72-holes.

With a win all but in sight, a relaxed Randhawa started the day with a bogey on the first hole. He birdied the third, dropped another shot on the fifth but then picked up birdies on the sixth and ninth holes to make the turn at one-under.

Randhawa then birdied the 12th, dropped a shot on the 16th and picked up another birdie on the 17th hole to card a two-under 70.

"The pressure made me play well but it was tough out there. The greens were fast today and the pin positions were tight,'' Randhawa said.

The DLF Masters was played on the basis of the world-renowned AT&T Pebble-Beach Pro-Am and the Dunhill Links Championship.

The team championship was won by Amardip Sinh Malik and Raghav Malik with a total of 15-under 129. Amardip was rewarded Rs 2,50,000 for the effort. Gaurav Ghei and his partner Naurath finished second, while Ashok Kumar and partner APS Kang finished third.
