Juventus sign Italy striker Iaquinta
MILAN, June 19 (Reuters) Juventus have signed Italy striker Vincenzo Iaquinta from Udinese on a five-year deal, the Serie B champions said today.
The 27-year-old, who scored 14 top flight goals last season, has moved for 15.2 million dollars after the two clubs finally struck a deal following weeks of speculation over the transfer.
''I have grown up year-on-year and after seven seasons in Udine the moment has arrived to make a jump of quality in order to test myself with a challenge that only a great club like Juventus can offer,'' the striker said in a statement.
''I believe that I am the right age to realise this dream. I like pressure and I cannot wait to start this new adventure.'' The arrival of Iaquinta, part of Italy's World Cup-winning squad last year, may hasten the departure of unsettled France striker David Trezeguet as Juve rebuild for Serie A.
Some top players stuck with the club following last year's demotion for match-fixing but new coach Claudio Ranieri is expected to bring in several new faces for next season with fans expecting Champions League qualification at least.
Trezeguet, who has fallen out with club bosses, has been linked in the media with a move to Valencia or Olympique Lyon.
