Joshi, Advani, Geet, Shandilya storm into quarterfinals
Bangalore, Jan 20 (UNI) Defending champion Devendra Joshi, fancied Pankaj Advani, former world champion Geet Sethi and Railway star cueist Ashok Shandilya stormed into the billiards quarterfinals in the National Billiards and Snooker Championship played at KSBA hall here today.
Joshi overcame talented Saurav Kothari 819-280 in a match that was studded with three century breaks. Advani, improving through every match, compiled three century breaks including a double to thrash Nitin Kohli 996-433, while Ashok put to an end the fine run of veteran Arvind Savur at 1047-363 that included two marvelous double hundred breaks.
However, the most impressive winner of the day was former world champion Geet Sethi who mesmarised Siddharth Parikh with a break of 524 entroute to a commanding 1131-203 win.
In the quarterfinals tomorrow, Advani will clash with Ashok, Joshi faces Rupesh Shah, B Bhaskar cross swords with Dhruv Sitwala and Alok Kumar will run into Geet Sethi.
