JNTU Kakinada to provide incentives to sportspersons

Kakinada, Oct 14 (UNI) The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University here would offer incentives and attendance to students, who perform exceedingly well in national and inter-university sports competitions, University Vice-Chancellor Allam Apparao said today.

Participating in a meeting of physical directors of affiliated colleges, he said it was the university's policy that every affiliated college appoint a physical education personnel to ensure that students were physically fit.

He said the JNTU Kakinada would be able to conduct inter-university tournaments from next academic year. It had succeeded in getting membership in the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

JNTU College of Engineering Principal E V Prasad said being an autonomous institution, they were planning to introduce one year and two year Diploma courses in sports sciences shortly.

University Registrar V Ravindra said the university was contemplating to conduct workshops on sports medicine, sports sciences and other sports-related subjects.
