Jammu, Mar 22 (UNI) In a bid to make the jawans more interactive and physically fit, the Jammu and Kashmir Police will organise Inter-Battalion Sports Meet, scheduled to begin from March 24 at the Police Stadium here.

Addressing mediapersons this morning, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Armed, S Owais Ahmed said that inter-battalion sports meet is an annual programme and it has been introduced to bring policemen from different regions and districts to one platform.

''Such events help them (jawans) in interacting and sharing the ideas of their working and at the same time sports keep them fit, which is a mandatory requirement for the police,'' the IGP told UNI.

Hundreds of policemen, including women from 26 battalions would be participating in 15 events during the week-long meet, which would be declared open by the Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda.

Besides, senior police officers would also be taking part in GOs events including Badminton, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis and Shooting, Mr Owais said.

He said that the best players of inter-battalion and inter-zonal sports meet are being selected for the national events of All India Police and those having outstanding performance at national level are being rewarded suitably.
