JK Govt announces one lakh cash reward for
Jammu, Feb 16 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government today announced Rs one lakh as cash reward, besides free education for the budding girl gymnast Mitali Sharma who has won five medals, icluding one gold and two silver for the state in the ongoing 33rd National Games being played at Guwahati in Assom.
JK Sports Minister Babu Singh told reporters here Mitali, a 10th standerd student from Jammu, will be given title of 'wonder girl' and Rs one lakh as a cash prize.
''The sports department was directed to arrange free education for the girl and encourage her so that she can perform much better in the next National Games to be held in Jharkhand in the next year,'' Singh said.
It is for the first time the sports person representing the state crossed double figure, bagging gourteen medals including three gold and two silver for various sports events, he added.
A teenaged girl gymnast created history by winning five medals including one gold and two silver in different Gymnastics events, the sport Minister added.
