Jharkhand boxers dominate in National Games women''s quarters

Jamshedpur, Feb 22 (PTI) Host Jharkhand dominated thequarter-final round of the women''s boxing event by winning allthe bouts it fought in the 34th National Games at the JRD TataSports Complex here today.

Jharkhand also launched the men''s quarterfinal campaignon a winning note with Amit Karki (69kg) drubbing Geetanand ofHimachal Pradesh 6-0 to sail into the next round.

In the women''s section, Aruna Mishra (69kg) outclassedLal Ramliani of Mizoram to enter the semifinals.

International Laxmi Padeya, who won gold in the seniornational championship in Kerala in December last, registeredan emphatic win over Jagmeet Kaur of Uttarakhand in the Heavyweight category (81kg). Padeya moved into the last four.

Besides Jharkhand, Haryana was the other team to registervictories in the men''s and women''s section of thequarterfinal.

Among the men, nine-time national champion Dilbag Singh(69kg) of Haryana defeated Lakhbir of Punjab 3-2 to enter thesemifinal.
