Jeev slips five places to 42nd
New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) An indifferent performance in the Malaysian Open last week took its toll on Jeev Milkha Singh's standing as the ace Indian golfer dropped five places to 42nd spot in the latest World Golf Rankings released today.
Jeev, who has failed to reproduce last year's form this season thus far, ended up tied 42nd in the 1.29 million dollar co-sanctioned event.
The golfer has 2.48 points average in kitty and is ranked third among the Asian players behind the Korean duo of Cho Kyung-Ju (24th) and Yang Yo-Eun (30th).
Fellow Indian fared no better and Jyoti Randhawa and Shiv Kapur, both of whom missed the cut at the Malaysian Open dropped a few notches in the rankings.
Randhawa (1.60 points average) slipped two rungs to 88th but was still the second highest ranked Indian golfer. Kapur (.89) experienced a bigger fall and was 186th -- four places below compared to the previous week.
Run away leader Tiger Woods (19.64) held the World Number One position for the 430rd week and has a lead of 11.20 average points over second-placed Jim Furyk. Aussie Adam Scott is third while Phil Mickelson nudges up to fourth spot after his win at Pebble Beach National Pro-Am tournament.
