Jeev shows class to move to tied 16th, Jyoti tied 21st at BMW
Munich, June 24 (UNI) Jeev Milkha Singh gave himself a solid chance to register a top-10 finish at the BMW International Open with an impressive two-under 70 to jump to tied 16th from tied 40th spot at the end of the penultimate round here .
The stable performance helped the world No 57 earn a one stroke advantage over South African Ernie Els and the ace Indian golfer looks in terrific position to narrow the six stroke gap that separates him from the leaderboard toppers.
Jeev fired in two birdies and two bogeys on the front nine while gaining three more strokes against a lone bogey on the back nine for a three-day total of five-under 211.
Only one stroke behind lies Jyoti Randhawa with four-under 212 after a disappointing one-over 73.
Randhawa did not have to pay too dearly as he finally ended up tied 21st, thanks to dismal performances by the others.
Randhawa could have fared much better if only he hadn't come up with a double-bogey on the 14th hole and three bogeys although he arrested the motion from slipping from his hands by firing in four birdies.
The only other Indian in the fray, Shiv Kapur shot an identical one-over 73 to Randhawa's, to move up the ladder to tied 39th spot, from languishing at tied 52nd. Kapur dropped more shots than he gained as he bogeyed four holes compared to the three birdies he gained.
Atop the charts, Swede Niclas Fasth and Portugese Jose-Filipe Lima share a two stroke lead with a three-round aggregate score of 11-under 205.
