Jeev shares 3rd spot at Wales Open

Newport, Wales, June 1 (UNI) Ace Indian pro Jeev Milkha Singh carded a magnificent two-under 69 to be tied third on the penultimate round of the Celtic Manor Wales Open and was aiming for a title finish in the 1.8 million pounds event here.

Jeev, who has not won a title since 18 months, was just four Strokes behind leader Australian Scott Strange, who also turned in a 69 to total 15-under 198 after three rounds.

The Chandigarh pro carried on from where he left yesterday and was immediately off with a birdie on the second hole.

However, a dropped stroke on the fourth hole pulled him back.

But he ensured that there were no further hiccups in his front nine as he fired back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth to make the turn two-under.

In his backward journey, he had a birdie against a bogey as he rounded off yet another steady performance.

Meanwhile, Frenchman Raphael Jacquelin and Swede Robert Karlsson shared the third spot with Jeev after returning 68s.

Alvaro Velasco of Spain held the second spot three strokes behind Strange at the twenty Ten Course.
