Jeev makes his first cut in three outings

Arkon, Ohio, Aug 4 (UNI) Jeev Milkha Singh made his first cut in the last three outings despite carding four-over 74 at a treacherous par-70 Firestone Country Club, which saw him slipping three places to tied 41st at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational tournament here.

Jeev, who got the half-way axe at The Open and then at Players Championship in Hamburg, aggregates six-over 146 to be 12 strokes off the pace. South African Rory Sabbatini mastered the course well returning his second successive 67 to move into the sole lead.

Two strokes behind was Augusta Masters winner Zach Johnson, who returned the best card of the day -- a 65 -- for a sole second spot while World Number One Tiger Woods missed easy putts and his level-par round saw his sharing third spot with three others at two under.

Chandigarh pro Jeev started his day cautiously, putting for par on his entire front nine. It was the return journey that proved to be eventful and the World No 63 began ominously with a double bogey on the 10th hole.

The birdie on the next hole was the best he could come up with and Jeev went on to drop three more shots to finish with a 76.

The 2006 Asian Order of the Merit winner shares tied 41st spot with, among others, former World No 1 Vijay Singh of Fiji and multiple major winner Phil Mickelson of the United States.
