Jeev, Kapur to lead Indian challenge at BMW PGA Championship
London, Apr 25 (UNI) Ace golfer Jeev Milkha Singh and gifted compatriot Shiv Kapur will add Indian spice to a mouthwatering field in the 4.35 million Euro (5.5 million dollar) BMW PGA Championship which gets underway at Wentworth Club in Surrey from May 24-27.
The first Indian to play at Augusta Masters and make the cut there, Jeev confirmed his participation in the event that will see the cream of golfing fraternity chase a whopping 725,000 million Euro winner's cheque.
Jeev has already tasted one European Tour success when he triumphed at Volvo Masters in Spain last year and would go all out to repeat the feat.
The Asian challenge is particularly strong for the 2007 BMW PGA Championship with China's Liang Wen-chong and Thai trio of Chapchai Nirat, Thongchai Jaidee and Thaworn Wiratchant and Singapore's Mardan Mamat -- all of them European Tour winners -- also participating in the event.
In March, Liang became only the second Chinese player after Zhang Lian-wei to win on The European Tour International Schedule when he won the Clariden Leu Singapore Masters.
The following week Nirat became the third Thai golfer after Jaidee and Wiratchant to win on The European Tour when he completed a wire-to-wire victory in the TCL Classic in China.
