Jangra comes through last 16, stumbles in quarters
Chennai, Feb 5 (UNI) Sandeep Jangra of India played the match of his life to upset seeded player Shohaib Hassan of Pakistan in the pre-quarters yesterday, but later crashed out of the quarterfinals in the Hong Kong Junior Open Squash tournament.
A press release from the Squash Rackets Federation of India today said Sandeep, seeded in the 9-16 bracket, won the first game, dropped the next two, before winning the final two games against seeded Shohaib in the pre-quarters.
Sandeep won the 104 minute contest 10-9, 1-9, 5-9, 9-5, 9-7.
However, the euphoria over his pre-quarter win was shortlived as he crashed out in the quarters, losing to second seed Abdullah Mezayen of Kuwait 9-2, 9-4, 9-1 in straight games.
