Jammu overall champion
Indore, Mar 16 (UNI) Jammu claimed the overall championship with 68 points and five gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the 37th Inter-Command Platoon Weapons Shooting Championship at the Border Security Force's Central School of Weapons and Tactics' Reoti Range at city outskirts.
Punjab came second with 63 points (Gold-1, Silver-3, Bronze-2) medals, Rajasthan third with 52 points (Gold-1, Silver-4, Bronze-3), Gujarat fourth with 40 points (Gold-3, Silver-2), North Bengal fifth with 32 points (Gold-1, Bronze-1) and Kashmir sixth with 31 points (Gold-2, Silver-1).
Tripura was seventh with 24 points (Gold-2, Silver-1), Assam-Manipur eighth with 20 points (Silver-2, Bronze-1) and South Bengal ninth with 18 points (Silver-1).
Jammu emerged victorious in Combat Match Challenge Trophy, AIPDM Pistol Challenge Trophy, Section Match Challenge Trophy, Platoon Weapons Trophy, AIPDM Rifle Challenge Cup and General Raina Overall Championship Trophy.
Punjab bagged Rifle Individual Challenge Cup and Machine Carbine Cup, North Bengal clinched Full Bore Three Position Challenge Cup and Kashmir claimed Sniper Rifle Cup.
During the championship, two new records were created. In sniper rifle, Kashmir Frontier's constable P K Pal secured 51 points breaking Lance Nayak Kuldeep Singh's record of 50 points created in 2000.
In the section match, Jammu Frontier gained 607 points out of 795 points breaking more than two-decade-old record of 579 points created by Rajasthan and Gujarat in 1986.
On the occasion, new-recruited constables presented yogic and other postures including Surya Namaskar.
BSF Director General P C Sabharwal distributed prizes on the occasion.
