Jamaica's legislator calls for Indian-born Dr Seshaiah's head
Jamaica, June 14 (UNI) An opposition Jamaica Labour Party legislator, Derrick Smith, has urged the Government to dismiss Indian-born pathologist Dr Seshaiah following independents' conclusion that Bob Wollmer had died a natural death.
However, the Jamaican pathologist who said in his postmortem report that Pakistan cricket coach Woolmer had been murdered, is still standing by his report despite the closure of the police investigation into the death.
Ere Seshaiah said, ''I am sticking to my findings. He was murdered.'' Police relied on Dr Seshaiah's postmortem in March when announcing Woolmer had been strangled after his team was knocked out of the cricket World Cup by minnows Ireland.
This month three independent pathologists from Britain, South Africa and Canada concluded the coach had died from natural causes.
The Jamaican government has decided to set up a commission to carry out a review of the circumstances surrounding the investigation into the death Woolmer.
National Security Minister Dr Peter Phillips has appointed former president of the Court of Appeal Justice Ian Forte to ''assess the appropriateness of the techniques and the standards of professionalism employed by police investigators, as well as medical and other professional personnel.''
