Jagdeep, Mohit hit tons in vain as Chandigarh win

Chandigarh, Apr 19 (UNI) Chandigarh defeated Amritsar on the basis of their first innings lead of 117 runs in the Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament for Sushil Bali Trophy at the Gandhi Ground in Amritsar today.

Facing a daunting task of overtaking Chandigarh's first innings total of 445 for 9, hosts Amritsar put up a tough resistance and made 328 for 7 in allotted 95 overs. Mohit and Jagdeep hit centuries (105 each) but their efforts went in vain, as Chandigarh gained a big first innings lead.

Brief scores: Chandigarh: 445 for 9 wicket in 95 overs (Manan Vohhra 210, Naveen Dhiman 89, Shubam 56, Shamul Rathi 45 not out, Kunal Passi 4 for 97 and Vinay 4 for 137.

Amritsar: 328 for 7 in 95 overs (Mohit 105, Jagdeep 105, Lovin Gill 45, Karan 3 for 108, Virkaran 3 for 108, Hitesh 2 for 85).
