JAA felicitates archers
Jamshedpur, Jul 21 (UNI) The Jharkhand Archery Association (JAA) has felicitated the archers, who participated in the Junior Asian championship and World Archery Champinship held in Chinense Taipei and Germany respectively.
Felicitating the Jharkhand archers for annexing eleven medals, including five gold, in second Junior Asian Championship, JAA president Tridip Mukherjee gave way a cash award of Rs 5000 to each of the individual champions and Rs 2500 to the medal winners at function held here last evening.
Mr Mukherjee also lauded the archers of women recurve team, comprising Dola Banerjee and Chekrovolu Swuro,for qualifying for the Olympics. He said the women compound team comprising Jhanu Hansda, Bhegyabati Chanu and Suman Lata Murmu, also performed well.
JAA also presented latest modern bows to promising young archer Mangal Ho, who was selected as a Global Ambassador by the Group 4 Securicor, a London-based Multinational Security Agency, which would sponsor his training till the London Olympics 2012 under their G4s Teen programme.
Mr Mukherjee also appriciated the state's of sports department for sanctioning grant for holding the state archery camps well in advance prior to the National games.
He said the government like JAA had also provied for the stipend to the coaches.
Deputy Director of Sports and Youth Affairs Jharkhand, Sekhar Jamuar stressed on tapping the talent.
He said, ''There are no dearth of talent in Jharkhand but we should identify them and impart proper training to compete in the national and international arenas. '' UNI
