It was a most constructive meeting, says Srikkanth

Mumbai, Apr 6 (UNI) Former captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth today termed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) meeting with seven former captains to review India's World Cup debacle as one of the most constuctive meetings he has attended.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Srikkanth said rather than discussing whether the next coach should be an Indian or a foreigner ''we discussed on the exact role a coach plays in the team''.

Srikkanth further said that all former captains spoke on the need to develop junior cricket right from the pitches these matches are played to the umpires who officiate in these matches, as the junior cricket is the supply line of the senior team.

He also said that the need to improve the standard of pitches all over the country was stressed upon not just at the senior level but also at the junior level. The need to have more Under-19 tours to give the youngsters more experience on different types of wickets at an early age was also stressed upon to the cricket board by the former captains, Srikkanth added.
