Inter-unit TT championship begins in Rajkot tomorrow

Rajkot, Jan 31 (UNI) National and international players will be seen in action in the inter-unit table tennis tournament starting here from tomorrow at the Rajkot Municipal Corporation indoor stadium.

Some of the top players like Soumyadeep Roy, Subhajit Saha, S Raman, Achanta Sharat Kamal, Arup Basak, Poulomi Ghatak and Neha Agarwal are participating in the 27th Inter-Unit TT tournment being held here for five days beginning from tomorrow.

Soumyadeep Roy and Subhajit Saha alongwith Sharat Kamal were mainly instrumental in India's maiden men's team title at the Commonwealth TT Championship in Kaula Lumpur.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd is hosting the 27the TT tourney under Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) here.

Giving details to mediapersons here, BPCL deputy GM (HRF) VB Upganlawar said nine teams from ONGC, OIL, IOC, Engineers India LTd, GAIL, HPCL, IPCL alongwith host BPCL comprising 92 players are taking part in the competition.

M M Somaiya, the former Indian hockey team captain and gold medallist at the Moscow Olympics in 1980 was also present at the press conference. Somaiya is the deputy GM (PR) in BPCL-PSPB.
