West Indies to go to Pak for Champions Trophy despite security concerns

Sydney, June 27 : West Indies captain Chris Gayle has confirmed that his team will participate in the Champions Trophy being held in Pakistan despite security concerns expressed by Cricket Australia and English cricket board.

Speaking after the Windies' loss to Australia in the first one-day international in St Vincent, Gayle said the Windies experienced little trouble on their 2006 tour of Pakistan, describing the security as "tight".

"Whatever the ruling is, we will go there," The Nation quoted Gayle, as saying.

"It is not like we can say we are not going to Pakistan. It is an ICC-sanctioned tournament. I don't know if it is up to any team to say, We are not going. Whatever they say, we will work with it," he added.

Meanwhile, Australia's security consultant Reg Dickason departed for an inspection tour of Pakistan.

Dickason will present a security report to the Australian and England boards in the coming weeks.
