India's medal drought continues at the ISSF World Cup

Sydney, May 1 (UNI) Indian shooters lost yet another chance to register their names in the medal tally of the ISSF World Cup here, as both Pemba Tamang and Vijay Kumar failed to qualify for the finals of the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event.

Tamang, who was the day's best performer for India, finished 14th with a score of 577 with 290 in stage 1 and 287 in stage 2, while his fellow countrymen Vijay Kumar finished 34th with a score of 567 (286+281).

The other Indian in the fray, Ramkishan Yadav shot a score of 558 (278+280) to finish 35th in a field of 37-shooters.

The gold in this event was won by Zhang Penghui of China with a score of 788.2 (583+205.2), while Russia took away both the silver and bronze medal with Alifirenko Sergei securing the silver with a score of 783.1 (584+199.1) and Klimov Alexei got the bronze with a score of 782.7 (585+197.7).
