Indians end forgettable run in Seoul; Gangjee 30th, Ghei tied 53rd

Seoul, May 27 (UNI) Hopes of change in fortunes for all the four Indian golfers competing at the 6,00,000-dollar S K Telecom Open, came to end as all of them continued to carry their woeful form into the final round here today.

Tied 28th overnight, Rahil Gangjee finished the best of the lot, managing an even-par card to slip two places to a disappointing tied 30th spot while Amandeep Johl ended up on tied 48th spot at the BA Vista Country Club.

Gangjee eventually ended up with a total tally of two-under 286 to be 15 strokes behind the chart topper.

After enjoying a brief stay at the top at tied third spot on the opening round, Gaurav Ghei, carded a shocking two-over 74 for an aggregate score of two-over 290.

Ghei clearly did not live upto the billing, especially after winning the Pine Valley Beijing Open last month.

The highest ranked Indian player in the competition, Ghei, finished way down in the leaderboard at tied 53rd spot.

For Kolkata talent S S P Chowrwasia, it was another dismal round as he never looked in his elements all through the four days, coming up with a two-over 74 to finish tied 60th.

Meanwhile, local hero Bae Sang-moon was on top of the world as he rolled to an emphatic six-stroke triumph.

The Korean young gun fended off a late charge by Australian talent Aaron Baddeley and Kim Hyung-tae with a steady five-under-par 67.

Bae completed a dominant wire-to-wire success for his maiden success on the Asian Tour.

Bae, with one win on the domestic circuit last year, delivered a winning total of 17-under-par 271 and walked away with the top prize of 129,171 dollars.

Baddeley, who is a two-time winner on the US PGA Tour, enjoyed a bogey free 68 while Kim carded a 69 to claim joint second place ''I am extremely happy. I dedicate this win to my mother as she has been instrumental in my success today,'' said the winner.

''This is the last time my mother will caddie for me as she is getting tired. My mum is 51 and I am thankful to have her on the bag as she helped calm my nerves,'' admitted Bae.
