Indians dominate on 2nd day of Kerala Open

Thiruvananthapuram, May 6 (UNI) Top seed Isha Lakhani and second seed Rushmi Chakravarthy of India made their debut in style in the BSNL Kerala Open ITF Women's Tennis tournament, scoring easy victories over their rivals today.

The day belonged to Indian players and they won almost all the singles matches they played rather easily.

While Isha found no difficulty in packing Dipti Srivastava (6-1, 6-0), Rushmi prevailed over Volha Kalodzitsa (BLR) (6-2, 6-2).

Dipti struggled hard to contain the returns and services from her senior rival Isha.

In the other singles matches, Neha Sujit Nair (IND) routed Shalini Sahoo (IND) (0-6, 0-6), Magda Okruashvili (GEO) won against Alexandra Riley (USA) (6-1, 6-1).

Prerena Mythri Appineni (IND) and Poojashree Venkatesha (IND) scored a convincing (6-4, 6-3) and (6-0, 6-0) victories over Vishakha Sheoran (IND) and Archana Venkataraman (IND) respectivley.

In another tie, Geeta Manohar of India outplayed Yuri Kurashima of Japan (6-1, 6-0).
