Indian pugilists continue dominance in YMCA boxing
New Delhi, Jan 30 (UNI) Indian pugilists continued to dominate the ring on the second day with only one losing his bout in the 10th YMCA International Boxing Championships here today.
Eight Indians moved into the finals in the sub-junior section winning their bouts in different weight categories while seven booked places in the final round in junior section.
In the senior section, Mohinder of India 'B' outpunched PB Paulus of Malaysia 27:10 in the 64 kg quarter-final bout.
It was only Kapil who lost his bout today, against Kazakhstan's Sadykov in the 57 kg semi-final in the junior section.
The finals in the 48 and 54 kg categories of the junior section will be all Indian affairs.
Madan Lal tormented Sahy Hasanov of Turkmenistan all ends up and referee had to stop the contest in favour of the Indian in the (50 kg) sub-junior semi-final.
Other Indians who won in the semi-finals in the sub-junior section were Umesh (46 kg), Nanao Singh (48 kg), Anijane Yalu (52 kg), Bajrang (54 kg) and Rojit Singh (54 kg).
In junior semi-finals, the Indian winners were Sandeep and Sunil (48 kg), Sunil (51 kg), Roshan (54 kg), Sandeep (54 kg), Kulvinder (57 kg) and Rakesh (60kg).
