Indian carrom team sets off for World Championships

New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) The Indian carrom team today left for the fifth World Carrom Championship scheduled to be held at Cannes in France from February 13 to 17.

Defending world champion R M Shankara will lead a strong men's team which includes former world champions R Arokia Raj and M Nataraj.

Other members of the squad are : Yogesh Pardesi, Sandeep Deorukhkar, D Kubendu Babu, Jitendra Kale and Prakash Gaikwad.

The women's team will consist of Rashmi Kumari, I Illavazhaki, P Nirmala, G Revathi, Kavita Somanchi, Anuraju, Sangeeta Chandorkar, and Anupama Kedar.

The Indian squad will be coached by Bharat Bhushan while S S Prasad and Kamna Yadav are the managers of the men's and women's teams respectively.
